Sick dog
My English setter Sam is sick. He is coughing and gagging. Congestive heart failure has been ruled out. Looks like a mild obstruction or maybe lungworm. He is not coughing so much now but salivating a fair bit and gagging a little when excited. I have him on Sentinel. He has cost me $300 in vet visits and still dont know whats wrong. Life sucks when pup is sick!!!

Get well soon Sam.
ReplyDeleteOh no, that is not good news. Can't they test for lungworm?
ReplyDeleteI hope he is better and soon, for all of you.
Boy, I hope everything ends up okay with your dog. I just got through an injury and have other friends with dogs that are down for much of this season. This seems to be the year of doggy complications.
ReplyDeleteI hope everything gets better soon. Don't want to hear any bad news...
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lung thing. Maybe asthma? Not familiar with lung worm. I'm certainly no expert, but I think these may be symptoms of problems with the lungs. Hope you get a diagnosis soon. Get well Sam!
ReplyDeleteThanks all. Sam has his same old energy but definitely has a lung issue. He has had a chest x ray and has bronchitis but as of yet we don't know the cause. I can't get a test for lungworm until the weekend. Lungworm is what I am suspect. He is on Sentinel but it is not 100% effective on lungworm. I would have treated for lungworm as it is quite common here in Newfoundland but will have to wait for the weekend. I am hoping lungworm as it is easily treated.I also have an appointment booked for early next week. If he gets worse I will bring him in for an emergency visit. The vet says don't panic.
ReplyDeletethanks all for your concern
